With over 16 years of experience in grant management, program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, I have built a successful career collaborating with national and international organizations as a seasoned consultant and expert trainer. Currently, I am leveraging my grant management expertise at the AKHUWAT Islamic Microfinance (AIM), committed to eliminating poverty across all strata of society. Previously, at Pak Green Enviro Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd. (PGEE), I progressed from Deputy Director of Research and Evaluation to Deputy Director, Programs. At PGEE, I led a specialized technical regulatory consultancy for a World Bank initiative, elevating environmental and quality standards. I have overseen 18 grants totaling $5.10 million from reputable donors like USAID, DFID, and UNICEF, addressing crucial themes such as human rights, climate change, and gender equality. Furthermore, I have conducted third-party validation and evaluation of development projects valued at $29.4 million for provincial, federal, and international entities. As Deputy Program Director at PGEE, I refined my skills in conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). As an impassioned educator, I have empowered over 1,200 individuals through capacity-building initiatives focused on fostering peace and facilitating equitable elections.
As Manager Grants, The AKHUWAT Society, I have successfully engaged corporations, national and international donor agencies, and collaborative partners to invest in Mawakhat-oriented, SDG-integrated, sustainability, and ESG-aligned, people-oriented, evidence-based, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable interventions. The grant management approach adopts participatory development; it focuses people, planet, and prosperity to execute community-led, systematic integrated solutions to eradicate absolute poverty in all forms while focusing on controlling relative poverty. I have successfully managed grants of USD 1.250 million for esteemed corporate clients such as OGDCL, GO-ARMCO, The Bestway Group, The Fatima Group, PPL, The Bank of Punjab, Bayer, Proctor & Gamble USA, Pak-Kuwait Investment, AkzoNobel, Nestle and EBM for thematic areas of climate change, gender inclusion, entrepreneurship, quality education, health and well-being.
As Principal Consultant, I am responsible for providing programmatic and technical assistance to M/S JAFFARI & SABAZWARI CONSULTING for successfully planning, executing, monitoring & controlling diversified consultancy projects with a special focus on sustainability, adaptation and mitigation from the environment, forestry, as well as social sector interventions for inclusive development. Moreover, lead to conduct Third Party Validations (TPV) of Public Sector Development Programs (PSDP) and Annual Development Program (ADP) schemes.
As Program Manager, The AKHUWAT Mustafa Abad Mawakhat Program (PM, the AMMP), an additional role, I successfully designed inclusive, resilient, sustainable SDGs, integrated a social impact-oriented program, and implemented a participatory development approach. Adopted evidence-based interventions, whose outcomes integrate with SDGs and ESG disclosures. Priorities thematic areas are: a) Environment, i.e., Solid Waste Management, Access to Clean Water, Sanitation and Health, and Plantation; b) Social, i.e., poverty elevation through the provision of interest-free microcredit, digital literacy initiatives for the youth, especially girls and Zero Huger. Major achievements include: 1) the Integrated Resource Recovery Centre (IRRC), costing USD 0.0861 for Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) in collaboration with Sub National Governance (SNG-II) and Municipal Committee Mustafa Abad, District Kasur; 2) IT centers for girls and boys each; and 3) 325 interest-free microcredits (Qard-e-Hasan) of USD 0.123 for vulnerable groups, especially women. 4) Strengthen Partnership for Goals with SNG-II, District Administration Authorities and MCs, local influencers and stakeholders.
I have been at the forefront of creating new models, procedures, and instruments to guarantee efficient project management in my role as deputy program manager. These tools satisfy the unique requirements of our clients while also being in line with the organization's vision, mission, goals, and strategic plans.The pinnacle of my employment experience was overseeing a fruitful 15-month technical legal consulting project for a World Bank-funded project. The $0.1 million project supplied crucial services for the Punjab Outward Development Program (PGDP) of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of the Punjabi government's Strategic Planning and Implementation (SP&IU). Developing new environmental standards and updating current ones were the main goals of the project.My advice went above and beyond just finishing the project. I managed three teams that gave the team as a whole organizational and technical direction: program development, implementation, and monitoring research. As a result, the entire project life cycle—from planning and conception to implementation, monitoring, and control to successful completion—was guaranteed.
To design monitoring & evaluation framework, develop survey research tools & methodology, key performance indicators, and provide necessary technical assistance for the monitoring & evaluation of the socio-economic impacts. To lead and coordinate with field formations for data collection and its analysis using different statistical tools in MS Excel and SPSS. To prepare social impact assessment and evaluation reports with a special focus on observations and recommendations for similar nature future projects. For the first time, used drone technology and satellite imaginary for the validation of tree plantation and forest cover (SDG 15.2) during a third-party validation study of the Green Pakistan Program (GPP) for the year 2016-17.
As Senior Manager, Program Grants, I successfully managed 06 grants of worth USD 0.39 million by Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), Development Associate International (DAI), and The Asia Foundation (TAF). Although, I had joined as Manager Finance, but later offered additional role of Monitoring & Evaluation Manager. After, assuming role of Senior Manager Grants, I designed grant management framework to achieve intended outcomes in line with grants objectives. I also upgraded operational protocols, reporting formats, accounting system of program grants on automated software. All the program grants, I managed during my tenure were audited by firms like KPMG, Ernst & Young (EY). As, master trainer, I had also built the capacity of more than 700 girls, young women and community leaders on conflict resolution, counter violent extremism and peace building. Conducted 07 focus group discussions in Multan and Gujranwala districts and prepared 02 district level policy papers on just and sustainable peace.
I have managed finance for program with UNICEF, TAF as Finance Manager in its implementing As Manager, Program Finance, managed 03 grants of USD 0.15 million by the UNICEF and TA, all audited by A.F. Ferguson & Co (PwC Pakistan). Reviewed grants management protocols and internal controls. Performed on job training of programmatic and support team for the intended implementation of project activities and financial controls. Here, I initiated the annual consolidated audit of organization for all grants.
Managed 02 grants of worth USD 0.10 million for Plan Pakistan and ICDI at regional office, Multan. As. I was also responsible for internal assessment of grants management and evaluation so directly involved in grant management at grass root level with field formations and communities in order to achieve intended outcomes.
As Master Trainer with UNOPS in capacity building training program for polling staff of Election Commission of Pakistan through UNDP in Multan district successfully conducted trainings and built capacity of more than 500 officials who participants and majority was of presiding, assistant presiding level.
As an Individual Consultant, Accounts and Logistics, Asian Development Bank for implementing a grant of worth US $15K (budget under my control) by DFID-UK for Punjab Devolved Social Services Program (PDSSP), SP60 –12 – Training of PHED Technical and Community Development Staff for Improved Water Management and Sanitation Services. I had done grant management, controlling, reporting and general administration in 08 districts of South Punjab (Multan, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, R.Y. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, and Bahawalnagar). More than 200 government officials were direct beneficiaries of this project.
As Finance Officer I was responsible for maintaining day to day book keeping of accounts, bank book, cash book, preparing payrolls and updating assets and inventory books. I was directly reporting to Chief Financial Officer and coordinating with Internal Auditor to ensure compliance and fulfill audit requirements.
