The job purpose of the CEO is to manage company-wide operations while maintaining the standards set by the Board of Directors and provide strategic leadership for the microfinance company, driving financial inclusion for underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company’s vision, mission, and overall strategic direction
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments..
- Explore and arrange lending from financial institutions for the Company.
- Devise strategy to Secure Company's funds from pilferage and bad loaning.
- Ensure the financial health of the organization through effective budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Collaborate with the finance team to manage funding and investment strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and community partners.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and public forums.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the microfinance industry.
- Lead efforts in risk management and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Foster a positive organizational culture that promotes teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop senior leadership to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors on organizational performance, strategic initiatives, and operational challenges.
- Collaborate with the Board to set organizational goals and objectives
- Provide leadership to the management team and field staff.
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- The individual should have a minimum of 7 to 10 years of senior management experience, preferably in the regulated financial services sector.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Must demonstrate through qualifications and experience the ability to undertake the responsibilities of the position.
- The CEO must not serve as a director in any other NBFC with similar business operations or hold positions such as CEO, CFO, or auditor in a stock brokerage house. Additionally, the CEO and their spouse must not control more than 20% shareholding in a stock brokerage, and NBFCs must ensure the CEO is free from conflicts of interest arising from dual roles or directorships.
- The CEO must have available financial records, with no history of loan default or overdue payments in the CIB report, and must not have applied for insolvency or been declared a defaulter by a financial institution or stock exchange.
- The CEO must have no convictions for moral turpitude, involvement in financial misconduct, fraud, or adverse findings from regulatory bodies, and must not have managed a company facing license revocation or liquidation. They must also be eligible under the law to serve as a director and not have entered into a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau.
Note: These are regulatory requirements, therefore these must be fulfilled, otherwise you won’t be shortlisted for the job position.
