NCMNH

NCMNH was established in 1994 under the chairmanship of the Federal Secretary of Health. The Secretariat is in karachi and is managed by a Core Committee with the assistance of professional staff and a pool of technical and management specialists. NCMNH has established itself as a focal technical and advisory body for all matters related to women’s health in general and for safe motherhood and prevention of maternal and neonatal deaths and disabilities in perticular. NCMNH focuses on advocacy for MNH, capacity building for human resource development including training, and quality assurance of MCH services through M&E. Their advocacy work in safe motherhood has been both at the central level with policy makers and national health planners and at grassroots level. NCMNH assisted the government at the federal and provincial levels in policy making, planning, implementation and monitoring of programmes directed at improving MNH. They also provided technical assistance to the MoH for developing Pakistan’s National and Maternal Health Policy. NCMNH has good experience in capacity building through training, and has worked to strengthen the management information system in the context of MNH.
