Indus Resource Centre

Indus Resource Centre (IRC) was established in the month of April 1999 and registered in July the same year. It envisions a society in which all citizens, irrespective of their gender, class, religion or sect, have equal opportunity for growth, and participation in local and national affairs. Its mission is to empower the marginalized communities and support the process of their poverty alleviation through direct interventions and advocacy. At present, IRC has four thematic areas: Education and Literacy, Sustainable Livelihoods, Disaster Response and Governance, Democracy and Human Rights with cross cutting themes of environmental sensitivity and gender equality. Lessons learned from the field experience are fed into advocacy and policy dialogue.

IRCs work contributes directly towards:

Improving Maternal Health
Ensuring Environmental Sustainability

In 2010-11, IRCs outreach was in 14 districts of Sindh till recently through isolated projects: Khairpur, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Kashmore, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Naushehro Firoze, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Karachi and Jamshoro IRC has offices in Karachi, Jamshoro, Khairpur, Sukkur, Shahdadkot, Dadu and Sehwan.
