Lok Sanjh Foundation
Lok Sanjh is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working with the rural communities particularly with women farmers in Pakistan. The organization started its work in 1996 and is registered under the Societies act 1860.
Lok Sanjh is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working with the rural communities particularly with women farmers in Pakistan. The organization started its work in 1996 and is registered under the Societies act 1860. At present it is working in more than 130 villages in nine districts of Punjab, Kashmir and with partners in NWFP, Sindh and Balochistan.
A group of farmers and rural activists registered Lok Sanjh to make an organized effort to make the farming communities aware of their rights and then enable them to make struggle for the protection of farmers rights. Farmers, particularly women farmers and landless tenants, do not have the right to organize and form their association or union. As a result they are unable to defend their rights.Presently, the Lok Sanjh is a member of South Asia Network on Food Ecology and Culture (SANFEC), Sustainable Agriculture and Action Group (SAAG), South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE), Earth Justice Movement and Peoples Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS), Pesticide Action Network-Asia Pacific (PAN-AP).
Lok Sanjh staff comprises of more than 40 members having expertise in areas of biodiversity, ecological agriculture, natural resource management, forestry and range management, women empowerment, food security, social mobilization, live stock management and disaster management.
