In 1982, Dr Akhtar established a specialized eye care institute by the name of Akhtar Eye Hospital and laid down the foundation of ophthalmic care in Pakistan. Providing latest trends in technologically advanced surgical procedures for over two decades is only one of our few achievements. Long before the advent of globalize technology in Pakistan, Akhtar Eye Hospital was leading the way in international collaborations and technological transfers to aid the masses of Pakistan with latest quality & cost effective treatment of eye diseases.
Our concentration is on all aspects of eye care. Spanning an experience of over two decades from the time of intra capsular cataract extraction to the age and usage of Excimer Laser has still kept us at Akhtar Eye Hospital the leaders in ophthalmology practice in Pakistan.
In patient care in our specialty holds high standards, just as our surgical, technological procedures, hence, we provide a 25 bed hospital with comfort features which help our patients to achieve rest and be under observation during their short admittance period. Located ideally mid way into the city, we attract not only the locals, but also residents of different cities/provinces, making our database of research of ophthalmic diseases and prevention vast.
Service to a population of four provinces is our highly skilled team of Doctors, each specializing in branches of ophthalmology and committing to standards of excellence. Diplomat American board of Ophthalmology, Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons UK and other Peak qualifications of international repute are what make Akhtar’s Eye Hospital a pioneer in its field. Along with a sharp, professional team of optometrists, technicians, nursing staff, what makes our team and their efforts pronounced is a hand of stable and effective management.
Since the inception of Akhtar’s eye hospital our objectives have been aimed at establishing community centers for the welfare of deserving patients. Keeping this in mind, Akhtar eye hospital collaborated with EYE BANK SOCIETY HOSPITAL, which became the center of excellence using latest technologies, in its field, and now carries out 100 operations per month. Along with the advancement of this fully functional hospital, we have also established a school health service, outdoor camp activities, and public awareness campaigns.
Our main emphasis now, is the prevention of diseases, especially diabetes, and diabetic related complications such as, diabetic retinopathy in the population of Pakistan.
