Under the direct supervision of Nutrition Specialist UNICEF Islamabad (Humanitarian and Coordination) supported emergency preparedness and coordination. Participated in planning of national and provincial level activities that aim to prepare and respond to nutrition in emergencies. Participate and support capacity strengthening activities, including training, supportive supervision, to government partners, and frontline emergency responders. Developed sensitization and advocacy briefs for integrating nutrition in the national disaster preparedness plan. Support delivery of life saving nutrition services for children, adolescent, and women during emergencies. Participate and support in emergency nutrition regulars’ coordination meetings. Support development of concept notes and proposals. Conduct literature and internet search for identification of new funding opportunities from national, regional, and global partners/donors for nutrition in emergency programming. Support development of concept notes and funding proposal in collaboration with the nutrition at country and field offices. Ensure networking and partnership building for nutrition, providing technical assistance to partners for planning, quality implementation, reporting, and monitoring of nutrition programs including emergency response for flood-affected areas. Organizing inception and progress/program review meetings with implementing partners for active implementation and following the activity/result framework every month to achieve set deliverables. Provided technical assistance to partners for quality results and established coordination with CSO partners and implementing partners.Supported and facilitated a Mass MUAC screening campaign to determine the severity of Wasting in flood-affected districts, applying innovation, knowledge management, and capacity-building approaches to promote preventive practices in implementation and sustainable program results along with treatment of wasting. Provided technical guidance and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners, and other country office partners/donors on the interpretation, application, and understanding of UNICEF policies, strategies, processes, best practices, and approaches to nutrition and related issues to support program development planning, management, implementation, and delivery of results. Represented the nutrition sector/UNICEF in UNOCHA inter-agency coordination working group meetings held in flood-affected districts.
Established coordination with DoH & PPHI at the district level and share the sectoral (program, situation analysis, progress, opportunities), supporting the key challenges, and following up the action points through a coordinated process. Supported missions to nutrition sites, integrating EPI, CP, PSEA & GBV properly into Nutrition services in flood-affected districts of Naseerabad and Sibi division, and facilitating capacity-building training to enhance the competencies of UNICEF other sector IP staff on nutrition.
Also ensure integration with health (EPI & MCH), WASH (ensuring safe drinking water), and child protection (birth registration) in the Mass MUAC screening campaign, ensuring reporting deadlines and data sharing on a weekly & monthly basis from IPs for further sharing with the provincial level, and collecting and supporting IPs in reporting on key performance indicators as per standard reporting tools. Ensuring reporting and recording tools are available with partners at the district/field level and providing timely reporting, data analysis interpretation, and feedback on key performance indicators and achievement against targets and sharing weekly sectoral updates with the section lead.

Conducted assessment of current breastfeeding practices, staff capacities, and hospital facilities before initiating training in newly selected hospitals for 2022. Worked with hospital administration to identify the right people for the TOTs and form a hospital-based committee that includes key departments to keep close liaise with hospitals for staff training and ensure that the hospital-based committee is involved in the initiative.Supervise and facilitate facility-based SBC activities for MIYCF counseling with demonstrations, provide technical and operational support to program implementation, and monitor the implementation of the 10 steps of BFHI. Identify gaps in implementation/capacities and rectify them to ensure that at least 3-4 hospitals are ready for accreditation for BFHI by the end of 2022. Also support the review and development of the Baby Friendly Community (BFCI) training package in English and Urdu versions, plan and roll out BFCI in three districts of KP by initiating coordination with the district LHW coordinators. Develop the BFCI Package, organize BFCI District ToTs, and monitor the process of establishment of breastfeeding rooms.Prepare weekly progress reports on the initiatives taken and the results achieved. Overall, the aim was to improve breastfeeding and maternal and child health practices in hospitals and communities by building the capacity of healthcare providers, strengthening healthcare systems, and promoting community-based initiatives.

Managed Nutrition program implementation in integration with the PEI and EPI programs, as well as the BISP Initiative for stunting prevention (Ehsaas Nashumnua) with the support of UNICEF and WFP. ensured high standards of nutrition program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting according to the donor approved LFA indicators. This includes the management of 35 Outpatient Therapeutic Programs (OTPs) and 35 Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programs (TSFP), 3 Stabilization centers (SC), and community mobilization and sensitization in both districts.
Identify bottlenecks and potential problems and take timely decisions to resolve issues and/or refer to relevant officials for timely resolution. Additionally, I participated in the Nutrition Technical Working Group (NTWG) meeting for COVID-19 response in the province and worked with field staff on specially designed activities for COVID-19 to manage wasting in pregnant and lactating women. I built strong coordination with the LHWs program, TSFP component, EPI, and Polio (ERU) to maintain active case findings, referrals of malnourished cases to health services, and to conduct health/nutrition/IYCF education sessions in integration with Polio and EPI Vaccination. ensured adequate nutrition supplies were available and regularly replenished at the target health facilities in the district and ensured timely reporting on program activities to the Nutrition cell, Nutrition cluster, and donor. I maintained close liaison with district stakeholders, including the Director of Nutrition, DHO, the National Program on Immunization, and the Nutrition technical working group and community in order to maximize output. I also conducted quarterly review meetings to evaluate progress made so far against targets and to plan the future way forward. Lastly, I collected data regularly through system-generated documents (MIS, etc.) and reported it to the DHO, DHS, Director of Nutrition, UNICEF, and WFP.

I coordinated and conducted activities for edible oil/ghee fortification i.e., Food Department, Food regulatory authorities, Health Department, Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA), edible oil/ghee industry and nutrition development partners and trained and built the capacity of mill staff on quality assurance/control processes. Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with nutrition sector government counterparts and provincial stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge. I worked closely with the provincial manager and key stakeholders to plan and execute program activities, coordinated with the premix distributor for uninterrupted supply, and ensured monitoring and compliance through regular visits, sample collection/testing at the Quality Control Laboratories (QCL), and feedback sharing. I conducted market and household surveys, raised awareness, and generated monthly reports. I identified issues of the food fortification process and mechanism and took mitigation measures, represented FFP at relevant forums, and performed other assigned duties.

Managed & ensured the implementation of nutrition activities of the WFP-funded nutrition project in close coordination with the deputy director of nutrition IHP-KP & DHO Bannu. Developed capacity-building training for HCPs of DoH in collaboration with DHO Bannu. Ensured progress against the target and managed the supply tonnage targets within a given timeframe at all the 20 TSFP sites by ensuring adequate nutrition supplies at target health facilities. Coordinated and supervised nutrition-related field activities of project staff and healthcare providers at the facility level. Conducted nutritional assessments and provided regular work plans and activity reports to DHO. Also, I prepared reports on capacity-building training conducted in the district. I documented lessons learned and best practices at the project level and developed quantitative and qualitative reports for facilitating donor visits to the field. Collected data regularly through system-generated documents (NIS) and report it to DHO, Deputy Director Nutrition, UNICEF, and WFP Provincial office.

Managed & ensured the implementation of nutrition activities defined by the Program officer in coordination with the Logistics and Administration departments of PIPH of the WFP-funded nutrition project. Liaised with the department of health, District administration, key stakeholders, and partners. Ensured progress against the target and managed the supplies tonnage targets within a given timeframe. Conducted field visits to ensure quality nutrition services were provided to target beneficiaries and assessments, provided capacity-building training, collected data & reports from the field, and submitted regular to DHO, WFP, and District Administration.

Conduct various assessment regarding nutrition situation in the area like Rapid assessments and coverage assessment to evaluate program coverage and provide information for new proposal development. Ensure timely reporting on program activities to country office, Nutrition cell, Nutrition cluster and donor reports. Close liaison with district stakeholder including community, MOH, National program on immunization and Nutrition cluster. Conduct quarterly review meetings for progress and targets achievements of project. Collected data regularly through system-generated documents (MIS etc) and report it to DHO, DHS, Director Nutrition, UNICEF and WFP.

Conducted Rapid MUAC Assessment and respond to emergency situation in Bannu with full motivation. I ensure the implementation of activities defined by the Deputy Program Manager in coordination with the Logistics and Administration departments. I develop plan of work for OTP and SFP activities according to the expected progress of the project. I evaluate and update project needs (HR, financing, logistics). I liaise with concerned government authorities i.e. PPHI, DoH & PDMA and ensure the programme strategy, objectives and activities are understood and agreed and appropriate communication channel is in place. I involve in the preparation of key IYCF and health messages in reference to the existing health and nutrition education materials. I regularly organize evaluation meetings of team members. I organize biweekly and monthly meetings with the team and report the outcome to the head of the programme. I compile and submit weekly, bi-weekly and monthly routine CMAM reports with my immediate supervisor. I supervised the admission, treatment and progress of OTP and SFP patients. I ensure IYCF education is disseminated to the target beneficiaries. I analyzed the nutrition situation and the prevailing trends in the District. I compile statistical data and draft appropriate reports on activities. I document lessons learned and best practices at the project level for future. I check that all the supplies are listed in the stock register for proper record. I always ensure that stock levels are sufficient for the functioning of SFP and OTP (weekly, monthly or quarterly). I make monthly physical inventory of all nutrition supplies. I being Nutrition Supervisor and in absence of PM/DPM established linkage with community leaders, representatives of community, other actors in the area, government authorities PPHI, DoH, PDMA and Army for proper coordination. I developed productive working relationships with Government, Non-Governmental institutions and other project partners at intervention areas.
