GSE Mechanical Technician

Job Summary: A Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various ground support equipment used in the aviation and transportation industry. This role requires a strong mechanical background and a diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repair:

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on GSE, including but not limited to baggage carts, aircraft tugs, ground power units, and de-icing equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to ensure the safe and reliable operation of GSE.
Execute repairs and adjustments on equipment to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including parts replacements and repairs.

Preventive Maintenance:

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
Conduct regular inspections and lubrication of GSE components to prevent wear and tear.
Identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs or replacements to prevent breakdowns.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure GSE meets safety and environmental regulations, and report any non-compliance issues.
Conduct safety checks before and after equipment operation.

Parts and Inventory Management:

Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for repairs.
Order replacement parts and supplies as needed and keep track of expenditures.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with other GSE technicians, mechanics, and engineering staff to solve complex problems.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules.

Documentation:

Complete maintenance reports and service records accurately and promptly.
Document equipment modifications, upgrades, and improvements.

Training and Development:

Stay updated on the latest industry trends, equipment technologies, and safety procedures.
Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Previous experience in GSE maintenance or a similar role is a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the aviation industry.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
