Pakistan Coalition for Education

Pakistan Coalition for Education

Established in 2005, Pakistan Coalition for Education (PCE) is committed to the improvement of quality education in Pakistan. The Coalition was registered as the Society for Access to Quality Education (SAQE) in 2010. The Coalition works in 65 districts across Pakistan and has over 200 members from local community-based organizations (CBOs), non-government organizations (NGOs), parent-teacher associations, civil society organizations (CSOs), education reporters associations (members of the media), and relevant government education departments. Under the ambit of promoting the people’s constitutional right to education and demanding quality in education, the PCE strives to educate people on relevant challenges to education and inform policymakers of citizens’ perspectives, and, in the process, ensure a dialogue between all relevant stakeholders. As a registered society, PCE is in a unique position to provide a platform for civil society to discuss, debate, and pursue measures for the effective and accountable delivery of education, especially for girls and disadvantaged groups. PCE is a strong believer in research and advocacy, and through its platform, helps develop and strengthen partnerships with regional and international networks on education. We aim to develop a credible and self-sustaining coalition that promotes education for all by raising awareness and mobilizing on education sector gaps. This involves engaging with policymakers and decision-makers, encouraging increased public sector spending on education, and continuing policy advocacy towards the neglected goals of the “Education for All” (EFA) and “Millennium Development Goal” (MDG) frameworks.
