He specialised in Finance from the Stern Business School, New York University, USA and subsequently entered the banking industry and spent nine years in various roles with Citigroup and United Bank Limited in different geographies. Subsequently, Makhdum Omar Shehryar left the banking sector to setup his own business and entered the sugar and energy sectors. He is accredited with making the RYK Group amongst the top sugar and biomass energy producers in Asia. As the founder and one of the main sponsors of the RYK Group, Makhdum Omar Shehryar is not only involved in the day to day affairs of the Group but also leads its expansion and diversification strategies.
