Karot Power Company (PVT) Limited (KPCL) is a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation, a state owned enterprise of China. KPCL is undertaking 720 MW Karot Hydro Power Project which is located on Jhelum River near Karot /Hollar Bridge at boundary between Punjab and AJ&K. The Letter of Support (LOS) has been issued by Government of Pakistan (GOP), Ministry of Water and Power, Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) on 29 August 2013.
The project has been included in Prioritized Projects /Early Harvest Projects (EHP) in the China – Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Therefore, the GOP has decided to expedite the development of this project and eliminate any hindrances on priority basis.
