IDRAC’s Profile-
The “Institute of Development Research and Corresponding Capabilities (IDRAC), Islamabad” is a credible research and training institute venturing to deliver quality research and training in multiple areas of social development such as education, health and hygiene, disaster risk reduction (DRR), women, children and human rights along with peace and conflict management/transformation. IDRAC is a registered trust with its National Taxation Number (NTN) as (4288063 – 7) that maintains its exclusive thrust in exploring the labyrinth of social issues and offering multiple ways and means of social progress and solutions for community development issues and concerns.
IDRAC has already conducted several assessments, evaluations and mid-term assessments in several areas of Pakistan including South Punjab. Research and Training in a whole range of children and women’s rights, besides a strategic focus on water issues, Climatic Change (CC), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), WASH and WATSON, might be considered its mainstay and central strength. Well equipped with adequate professional and academic skills and qualifications, Its’ team of qualified, trained and experienced professionals stand out as one of the most adept research and development professionals in the country.
Mr. Amjad Nazeer is heading the “Institute of Development Research and Corresponding Capabilities (IDRAC)”. He is a seasoned Social and Public Policy Analyst, Development Researcher and Human Rights expert with the credentials of Action Research, Development Planning cum Management, Project Planning, Baseline surveys, Project Implementation and Assessments or Impact Studies. Academically, he holds degrees in ‘Governance and Development Management (University of Birmingham, United Kingdom)’ and ‘Human Rights Policy and Practice (University of Tromso, Norway and University of Roehampton, London)’ and is an active member of various human rights and development networks such as Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), Youth Human Rights Initiative (YHRI) and Insaani Haqooq Ittehad (IHI) in the country and abroad.
IDRAC’s Research Associates include Muhammad Sajjad who is an M. Phil in Public Policy and Government Studies and has been engaged with several tasks of social research and Development for the last 4 years. Noor-ul-Sabah is our Gender and Women Rights Research Associate. More than once she has handled several massive research tasks of the UNICEF, UNFPA and several tasks of I/NGOs regarding Gender Audit, Gender Based Budgeting and Gender Equity Analysis. Hayat Khan, holds the Doctoral Degree in Anthropology and is a Professor of Sociology at the Degree College Swat. The distinguished Dr. Inam Laghari, the Professor of Anthropology at Quaid-e-Azam University is also associated with IDRAC as a research advisor. Similarly, since its inception Professor Sajid Awan the head of the National Institute of Pakistan Studies (NIPS) at Quaid-e-Azam University, is associated with us. Besides that IDRAC maintains a roaster of the dozens of researchers, surveyors, trainers, gender experts, data analysts and excellent report writers with to be engaged if and where required.
It is pertinent to mention that, so far, IDRAC has worked with Oxfam-Novib, Oxfam GB, Medicine Du Monde (MDM), USAID, International Relief and Development (IRD), World Vision Pakistan (WVP), ActionAid-Pakistan (AAPK), UNICEF, Rural Development Policy Institute (RDPI), Citizens Commission for Human Development (CCHD), Indus Consortium, Alliance Against Hunger and Malnutrition (AAHAM) and several other national and International NGOs in multiple areas of assessment, evaluation and research.
