Job Brief:
We are looking for a skilled Generator Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance/service, and repair of generator systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on generator sets, including oil changes, filter replacements, and coolant level checks.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues within generator systems, such as failures in starting, operating inefficiencies, or unexpected shutdowns.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Install new generator sets and electrical components, following engineering specifications and adhering to local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Calibrate and adjust generator control panels and equipment to ensure that the generators operate within specified parameters.
- Provide emergency on-call support for generator failures or power outages, including troubleshooting and repairs at any hour to minimize downtime.
- Document service actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records, maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repair, and replacement activities.
- Train clients or end-users on the proper operation and basic maintenance of generator sets to ensure safe and efficient use.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Generator Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and testing devices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to train others.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites.
- Understands English.
- Computer literate.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
