The Manager – Enterprise Applications owns the end-to-end management of the organization's enterprise applications across on-premises and partially hybrid environments — including deployment, lifecycle support, performance, availability, and integration. The role is focused on application management and modernization: providing technical guidance to the DevOps team on CI/CD and containerization, and coordinating with the Systems and Security teams on infrastructure, operations, and access.

Responsibilities

Application Management (Primary)

  • Lead end-to-end management of enterprise applications — deployment, configuration, lifecycle support, performance tuning, and integration across on-premises and hybrid environments.
  • Architect and maintain application-level clustering, caching, and load balancing for high availability, fault tolerance, and resilience at the application tier.
  • Drive application modernization and digital transformation, refactoring workloads toward microservice-based, containerized architectures.
  • Maintain and optimize application database environments (MariaDB/MySQL/PostgreSQL) including Galera clustering, replication, failover, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee web and application-serving platforms — NGINX/Apache, cPanel/Plesk, application DNS records, SSL/TLS, and CDN/WAF tuning.
  • Integrate enterprise applications with SSO and authentication standards (SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, MFA) and LDAP, in line with policies defined by the Security team.
  • Implement application-level monitoring, dashboards, and proactive alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK/EFK, OpenTelemetry).
  • Define and maintain application deployment automation and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD) together with the DevOps team.

Cross-Team Coordination

  • •     Provide technical guidance to the DevOps team on containerization (Docker, GitLab) and the progressive adoption of container orchestration.
  • •     Coordinate with the Systems team on infrastructure, VM provisioning, operating systems, and backup/restore requirements for application environments.
  • •     Partner with the Security team on authentication, access control, and application compliance.
  • •     Collaborate with development teams to align modernization initiatives with microservices and DevOps practices.
  • Documentation & Governance
  • •     Document application operations, runbooks, deployment playbooks, and change management with robust version control (Git/GitLab)

Preferred Skills & Technologies

Core (Must-Have)

  • •     Enterprise Applications: Moodle, ERP/SIS, authentication servers, microservice-based apps, NGINX/PHP stacks, Node.js, and modern frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue).
  • •     Databases: MariaDB/MySQL/PostgreSQL, Galera Cluster, replication, Redis/Memcached caching.
  • •     Web & Application Serving: NGINX, Apache, cPanel/Plesk, DNS, SSL/TLS, Cloudflare CDN/WAF.
  • •     Application Integration & SSO: SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, MFA, LDAP.
  • •     CI/CD & Automation: GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Bash/Python scripting, Git.
  • •     Containerization: Docker.
  • •     Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK/EFK, OpenTelemetry.
  • •     Operating Systems: working knowledge of RHEL, Rocky/AlmaLinux, Debian, Ubuntu (infrastructure owned by the Systems team).

Plus (Nice-to-Have)

  • •     Orchestration: OpenShift or Kubernetes.
  • •     Advanced DevOps: Helm, GitOps (Argo CD / Flux), service mesh (Istio/Linkerd).
  • •     Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform.
  • •     Integration: hybrid integration and API gateways (Kong/APISIX)

Professional Attributes

  • •     Demonstrated leadership in enterprise application environments and mission-critical operational support.
  • •     Strong root-cause analysis and incident response skills under high-pressure scenarios.
  • •     Process-oriented with a focus on service reliability, availability, and scalability.
  • •     Excellent technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and ITIL-aligned service management.
  • •     Proven cross-functional collaboration with DevOps, Systems, Security, and development teams.
  • •     Commitment to continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
