Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a seasoned and dynamic senior leadership team member for the following role:

 Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary | Karachi

 The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary (CS) of AKHS, P will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization to oversee and manage finance & taxation matters, supply chain and legal & regulatory compliances while working closely with various internal and external stakeholders, including the Board, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Health Department, AKDN and Central/Regional offices of AKHS, P. S/he will uphold the ethical principles and values of integrity, respect, compassion and inclusiveness in all his/her endeavors.

 Leadership and Institutional Collaboration 

Together with the CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), s/he will play a crucial role in influencing the institutional strategic policy direction to ensure that programs are implemented smoothly and within budget, as well as in guiding heads and managers in all financial matters in accordance with institutional guidelines.

  S/He will ensure periodic meetings within finance and with other departments and timely actions on agreed plans. S/He will facilitate communication and collaboration with and among various departments to address the needs of the collective institutional goals.

 Key Objectives of the Role

Comprehensive Financial Management: Assume direct / supervisory responsibility for all financial functions, including fund management, GL, investments, budgeting, and financial reporting etc. Contribute to shaping the company's financial strategy and staffing requirements. Analyze competitors, assessing avenues to maximize revenues, identifying opportunities for improvement through cost effectiveness and systems enhancement.

Budget Development and Coordination: Lead the coordination and development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets. Ensure accurate and timely reporting on-budget performance.

Cash Flow Management: Ensure the alignment of cash flow with operational needs by overseeing daily accounting, recording, reporting, and internal control activities within the organization.

Operational Excellence: Introduce and implement best practices and tools to maintain a well-controlled yet agile organization. This includes fostering robust fiscal management, coordinating projects, facilitating cross-team communications, and streamlining workflows.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements, safeguarding the organization by ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant / Cost and Management Accountant / ACCA qualified or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum three years of experience in executive leadership roles.
  • Understanding of IFRS, Fund management, regulatory issues, and tax planning.
  • A strong knowledge base of or an ability to learn quickly about the activities of AKHS and AKDN in health.
  • Demonstration of strong flexibility, adaptability and perseverance, especially during challenging periods.
