Teach the World is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer. This position will be responsible for overseeing ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Teach the World’s e-learning deployments. The M&E Officer will play a key role in field data collection, ensuring data accuracy, conducting on-site visits for process and progress monitoring and research, and providing key insights for improvement.

Majority of the time the candidate will be on the field. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in field data collection, data entry, database management and proficiency in the use of spreadsheet software and digital survey instruments. 

Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection:

  • Collect and manage enrollment forms for all students.

  • Monitor and record daily attendance of students.

  • Systematically collect and monitor data on student dropouts.

  • Maintain learners’ profiles across all schools.

  • Conduct community visits and focus group sessions with key stakeholders such as digital learning facilitators, parents and key community members.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct formal and formative assessments.

  • Hire, train and supervise teams of contractual enumerators for assessments as and when needed.

  • Coordinate logistics for formal and formative assessments.

  • Ensure the accurate recording and storage of assessment data.

Process Monitoring:

  • Monitor and evaluate program processes to ensure adherence to established standards.

  • Implement data collection tools for research on prescribed variables.

  • Conduct observations and gather relevant data for research purposes.

On-Site Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular on-site visits to monitor program processes and progress.

  • Provide guidance to Field Officers and facilitators during visits.

  • Gather firsthand information and observations to inform program improvement.

Digital Database Management:

  • Ensure student data is updated and maintained.

  • Download and manage data collection forms for efficient field data collection.

  • Conduct data cleaning and collation to ensure data is ready for analysis.

  • Upload collected data onto prescribed platforms and ensure data quality is maintained.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data collected.

  • Review and validate data collected by facilitators, field officers and contractual enumerators.

  • Address any discrepancies or issues promptly.

Other tasks:

  • Demonstrate flexibility and readiness to undertake any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

  • Work cross-functionally with content, learning and operations teams for their data collection needs.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Social Sciences, Statistics, etc.).

  • Proven experience in field data collection and monitoring, especially in educational settings.

  • Familiarity with data collection tools, such as SurveyCTO, ODK etc.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
