The Assistant Manager for Finance and Accounts will support the Finance Manager in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial statements, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting processes. The Assistant Manager will work closely with internal teams to optimize financial processes and provide insights for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance against budget.
  • Support the Finance Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Track budget performance, analyzing any deviations and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with budgeting guidelines and cost controls.

3. Accounting Operations

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.

4. Tax Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including GST, VAT, and income tax.
  • Prepare documentation and support external auditors during audits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations and assist in tax planning activities.

5. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements to maintain adequate liquidity.
  • Support in managing relationships with banks and financial institutions, including
  • Fund transfers, payments, and loan documentation.
  • Assist in cash forecasting and treasury management functions.

6. Process Improvement

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in finance operations.
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems, tools, and processes to streamline accounting workflows.
  • Provide training and guidance to finance team members on process changes and best practices.

7. Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Conduct regular checks and audits of financial processes to identify risks and propose solutions.
  • Support in the preparation and enforcement of policies related to financial governance.

8. Financial Data & Analysis Support

  • Provide financial data and analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) or MBA is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
