The Deputy Manager - Accounts is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the accounts department. The role involves ensuring accurate financial records, overseeing the preparation of financial reports, and assisting in budgeting, auditing, and tax compliance. The Deputy Manager will support the Manager - Accounts in implementing financial strategies and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and variances

General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Monitor and review accounting entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual financial performance against the budget and provide variance analysis.

Tax Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns and other statutory filings.
  • Internal Controls & Audit:
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring timely provision of required documentation and information.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Monitor aging reports and manage collections to ensure healthy cash flow.

Team Management:

  • Supervise and mentor junior accountants and finance staff.
  • Ensure proper training and development opportunities for the accounts team.

Financial Systems Management:

  • Assist in the maintenance and improvement of financial systems and software.
  • Ensure data integrity and security within the financial systems.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise with other departments, external auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) is preferred.

Other Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with [spreadsheets,  SAP, ERP etc].
