Solar engineer

Sun Global is seeking a dedicated Solar Engineer to oversee and manage solar installation projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. This role involves supervising the installation of solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, battery systems, electrical wiring, and related components to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards. The ideal candidate will coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, including technicians, contractors, and vendors, to deliver high-quality solar photovoltaic systems. The Solar Engineer leads a team of 8 professionals, fostering collaboration and ensuring project milestones are achieved effectively. The position requires strong technical expertise in solar system design, assessment, integration, and performance monitoring to optimize energy generation and maintain system reliability throughout the project lifecycle. This role demands hands-on involvement in conducting site surveys, system sizing, equipment selection, and technical documentation preparation. The Solar Engineer is responsible for testing, commissioning, troubleshooting electrical and system faults, and maintaining system performance using advanced monitoring platforms. Maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures is essential while communicating project progress and technical requirements to the project management team. Additionally, the engineer provides operational guidance to customers, ensuring a smooth transition after project completion. Responsibilities

• Supervise solar installation activities across residential, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety procedures, and project requirements.
• Monitor installation of solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, batteries, cables, earthing systems, and protection devices for quality and accuracy.
• Inspect electrical and mechanical installations to verify adherence to approved drawings and standards.
• Coordinate effectively with technicians, contractors, vendors, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct detailed site surveys, including assessments of roof dimensions, load capabilities, shading factors, cable routing, and equipment placement.
• Assist in system sizing and equipment selection based on site-specific conditions and project scope.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation such as installation drawings, specifications, and commissioning reports.
• Perform rigorous testing and commissioning of solar photovoltaic systems, checking DC and AC voltages, insulation resistance, polarity, earthing, and inverter functionality.
• Monitor solar system performance using online platforms and inverter portals to detect system alarms, generation losses, communication failures, and inverter faults.
• Analyze energy generation data to compare actual performance against expectations and identify areas for optimization.
• Troubleshoot electrical, communication, inverter, and monitoring-system faults promptly to minimize downtime.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities to enhance system reliability and sustainability.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies on project sites.
• Communicate project status, technical challenges, and material needs clearly to the project manager and stakeholders.
• Provide basic system operation training and safety guidelines to customers after installation completion.
• Lead and mentor a team of 8 members, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
