The Fashion Designer at SUMMAT leads the full design and development lifecycle, transforming creative concepts into finalized collections that embody the brand's unique identity. This role blends artistic vision with technical precision, requiring expertise in trend analysis, fashion illustration, garment construction, and fabric selection. With responsibility for overseeing a team of four, the designer ensures cohesive collaboration across departments including merchandising, production, and marketing to deliver compelling, on-trend fashion lines that align with SUMMAT's commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and luxury fashion. This position demands a forward-thinking professional who drives the creation of seasonal themes and collections through in-depth market research and design innovation. The designer directs the sampling and product development phases, resolving technical and production challenges while maintaining the highest quality standards. They manage sourcing relationships and vendor collaborations, mentor trainees, and maintain meticulous documentation and timelines, playing a critical role in sustaining SUMMAT's renowned craftsmanship and market success.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive research on global and local fashion trends, consumer behavior, and seasonal forecasts to inform design direction.
  • Develop season-specific themes, collection stories, and creative narratives that reflect the SUMMAT brand ethos.
  • Create mood boards, color palettes, fashion illustrations, computer-aided designs (CADs), and technical flat sketches to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Design complete seasonal fashion collections with attention to silhouettes, garment details, embellishments, prints, and embroidery layouts.
  • Select appropriate fabrics, trims, accessories, colors, and finishes that complement the collection and meet quality standards.
  • Produce detailed garment specifications and develop comprehensive Tech Packs to guide the production process.
  • Oversee collection consistency by ensuring alignment in styling, silhouette coherence, and overall collection direction.
  • Collaborate with pattern makers and sample masters to coordinate garment sampling, conduct fit sessions, and recommend technical adjustments.
  • Review prototypes meticulously, approve final samples, and troubleshoot production or construction issues to uphold product excellence.
  • Source fabrics, trims, packaging materials, and other components, building and maintaining strategic supplier and vendor relationships.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of four, including Fashion Design Management Trainees, fostering skill development and maintaining design quality.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as merchandising, production, marketing, and photography to synchronize collection launches and marketing initiatives.
  • Present collections to management, integrate feedback constructively while maintaining the core creative vision, and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Maintain detailed documentation including Tech Packs, costing sheets, approval records, and organize design archives for reference and compliance.
  • Monitor and track design timelines, collection milestones, and ensure efficient workflow management throughout the design and production cycles.
