Job Purpose: To ensure timely identification & completion of construction activities related to WASH WASH (Water Supply, Water storage kits, Celebration of special days for instance world water day, world toilet day, hand washing day and EVI latrines construction), Livelihood (Food for work/cash for work, lining of irrigation structure) and solar system installation and understanding on water quality and water safety at field level in close coordination with team lead, Project Engineer and Government Departments, as well as capacity building of communities and labors.

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his / her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and team members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Technical

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities within the community. This includes analyzing the impact of natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and droughts, as well as man-made hazards.
  • Risk Reduction Measures: Integrate DRR measures into project designs to mitigate identified risks and vulnerabilities. This may involve implementing structural measures such as retrofitting buildings for earthquake resistance or constructing flood defenses, as well as non-structural measures like early warning systems and community-based disaster preparedness training.
  • Community management skills to identify and select sites for physical infrastructure schemes such as Water Supply, Water storage kits, Celebration of special days for instance world water day, world toilet day, hand washing day and EVI latrines construction), on Livelihood side (Food for work/cash for work, lining of irrigation structure, construction rain water harvesting ponds) and identification of extremely vulnerable individuals for solar packages in consultation with targeted communities and stakeholders.
  • Planning for smooth completion of the project. To ensure the quality and quantity of work at site as per project documents i.e. specifications, BOQs, Construction Drawings etc.
  • Conduction of technical feasibilities and preparation of BoQs, specifications and designs for construction work.
  • Supervise the construction works, manage the concerned contractor’s team and motivate them for achieving the targets planned
  • To keep the office update about progress at site, issues being faced and recommend possible solutions. 
  • Ensure impact based interventions
  • Coordinating/Liaison with GLAs

Safety and Security

  • Liaise with the  supply chain department & project lead to ensure compliance with IRP Security Guidelines and their effective application in the local context;
  • Monitor the operational environment with respect to increased level of threat and advise the District Coordinator and IR Security Officer/Security Focal person.
  • Follow the appropriate communications means to meet operational and security requirements

Administration

  • Ensure that administrative support functions are supported in accordance with IRP administrative policies and procedures;
  • Ensure compliance with country legal, contractual, labour and statutory requirements

Person Specification: It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision and mission as well as commitment to its PSEAH (preventing sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. Qualification: BS/ B-Tech Civil Engineering/ or DAE-Civil with relevant experience

Experience: Minimum One year experience with B.Tech/B.E and Two years’ experience with DAE

Language: Urdu, English and local languagues, Pashto language and tribal Pashto dialect will be an additional asset

Computer/other Skills:

  • The candidate shall be computer literate and having good skills of MS office, MS excel, power point and AutoCAD.
  • Have good communication Skills, can effectively communicate with local communities.
  • Can work in Stressed environment and have ability to meet deadlines.
  • Have time management skills.

Pashto, Urdu  and English
