Job Objective:

Ensure the effective response to education-related needs in emergencies. Must have strong community mobilization and outreach skills, as well as experience in needs assessment, monitoring, and reporting. Able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders and be committed to ensuring that education services are accessible to all children, especially those who are most vulnerable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with community leaders and other stakeholders to mobilize communities and create awareness about the importance of education in emergencies, the availability of education services, and the benefits of enrolling children in school.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify education-related needs in the community, including the number of out-of-school children, the availability of education services, and the barriers to accessing education.
  • Conduct outreach activities to identify out-of-school children and encourage them to enroll in school, including door-to-door visits, community meetings, and school enrollment campaigns.
  • Work with schools and other stakeholders to identify and provide support services to children who face barriers to education, including children with disabilities, children from marginalized communities, and children who have experienced trauma.
  • Monitor education-related activities, including school enrollment, attendance, and retention, and prepare timely and accurate reports on the progress and challenges of the education response.
  • Coordinate with other stakeholders, including local government officials, NGOs, and community-based organizations, to ensure that education response efforts are aligned and effective.
  • Support the capacity building of local education authorities, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of education response efforts.
  • Report of program activities to the supervisor
  • Facilitate activities that build the capacity of the community
  • Provide statistical data, reports and planning information to the Region for internal and external dissemination
  • Coordinate with the government department/s and communities for relief activities
  • Ensure regular field visits and high quality timely production of all deliverables
  • Distribution and positioning of IEC materials
  • Follow and ensure that gender, protection, local culture, and other important cross-cutting concerns are considered in program implementation, and reporting.
  • Any other relevant task assigned by the supervisor
