The Community Mobilizer will serve as a grassroots facilitator, ensuring continuous community engagement, sustained participation, and inclusive representation throughout the project duration. The mobilizers will bridge the gap between project implementation structures and community members, ensuring that community voices are centered in all decision-making processes. They will promote gender equality and social inclusion by ensuring meaningful participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in all project activities.


Responsibilities

Community Mobilization and Engagement:

  • Mobilize and organize community members for participation in training, planning, and implementation activities.
  • Conduct regular community visits and interactions to maintain engagement and gather feedback.
  • Facilitate formation and strengthening of Community Resilience Committees (CRCs) with balanced representation.
  • Ensure sustained community participation in monitoring and adaptive management activities.
  • Document community perspectives, concerns, and suggestions and report them to the Project Coordinator.

Inclusive Engagement:

  • Support meaningful engagement of persons with disabilities and marginalized groups.
  • Promote social cohesion through community-based dialogue and awareness-raising.
  • Address community concerns related to social tensions, resource conflicts, climate change, and cultural sensitivities.
  • Support leadership in community committees and decision-making processes.

Training and Capacity Support:

  • Co-facilitate participatory training sessions for risk profiling and capacity building of communities.
  • Support community participants during learning-by-doing exercises in local risk assessment.
  • Facilitate participatory planning sessions with inclusive dialogue and consensus-building.
  • Provide peer support and mentoring to community members on adaptation concepts and nature-based solutions.

Monitoring and Feedback:

  • Conduct regular community monitoring of project activities and community satisfaction.
  • Gather and document community feedback on project implementation and adaptive management.
  • Facilitate quarterly community reflection sessions to assess progress and identify improvements.

Local Language and Cultural Facilitation:

  • Serve as a language bridge, facilitating clear communication between project teams and local communities.
  • Explain project concepts and activities in simple, culturally appropriate language.
  • Support adaptation of project tools and materials to local context and cultural practices.
  • Build trust and credibility within local communities through consistent presence and support.

Job Requirements and Qualification:

  • A bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant field experience.
  • Formal training in community development, social mobilization, or a related field is an advantage.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in community mobilization, grassroots engagement, or social development.
  • Experience working with marginalized and vulnerable populations.
  • Experience facilitating community meetings, focus group discussions, and participatory processes.
  • Experience in community-based adaptation or disaster risk reduction projects preferred.
  • Understanding of local community dynamics and cultural context of target area.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility.
  • Strong facilitation skills for group discussions and participatory processes.
  • Gender-responsive and inclusive approach to community engagement.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to navigate community-level conflicts constructively.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain records.
  • Physical fitness for regular community visits and field travel.
