Spacecom is seeking a skilled Product Engineer specialising in QA Automation and AI-assisted development to join our team.
This is not a traditional manual QA position. We are looking for a Product Engineer who combines software development, QA automation, AI-assisted engineering, and product quality ownership.
You will work directly with founders and product stakeholders in a fast-moving startup environment where ownership, initiative, and problem-solving are highly valued.
We actively use AI-assisted development tools as part of our daily workflow and expect engineers to leverage modern AI tooling to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
You should have strong product thinking, with the ability to evaluate functionality from both a technical and user experience perspective. You should also be passionate about continuously learning new tools, frameworks, testing approaches, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
You should be able to inspect browser console errors, API requests, application state, and debugging information independently. You should also be comfortable working independently in a remote and asynchronous environment.
In this role, you will contribute to small frontend/backend fixes and scoped feature development work. You will also work closely with Product Owners to refine requirements, validate acceptance criteria, maintain backlog quality, and ensure features are ready for development and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- * Test new features across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms before release
* Create and maintain automated test suites and regression testing frameworks
* Reproduce, investigate, and document bugs with detailed reports and supporting evidence
* Validate UX, edge cases, error handling, responsiveness, and overall product quality
* Collaborate with product owners and engineers to clarify requirements and maintain backlog quality
* Use AI coding tools to generate tests, investigate issues, review code, and implement fixes
* Review AI-generated code and ensure functionality beyond standard use cases
* Contribute to small frontend/backend fixes and feature enhancements when required
* Continuously improve QA processes, testing standards, and release workflows
Responsibilities
Must-Have
- * 2+ years of experience in QA Automation, Software Engineering, Product Engineering, or a related field
* Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript
* Solid understanding of modern web application testing strategies
* Experience with at least one testing framework: Playwright, Cypress, Vitest, Jest, or React Testing Library
* Experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code, or Windsurf
* Ability to review, debug, and validate AI-generated code independently
* Experience with Git, GitHub, pull requests, branching, and CI/CD workflows
* Ability to inspect browser logs, API requests, application state, and debugging information
* Strong written English communication skills
* Strong attention to detail, product thinking, and UX awareness
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- * Experience with Supabase
* Experience with Deno or Edge Functions
* Experience testing AI/chat-based products or LLM-powered applications
* Experience with GitHub Actions, Linear, CodeRabbit, or similar engineering workflows
* Experience creating QA matrices, regression strategies, and release validation systems
* Experience working in startup environments with fast release cycles
* Familiarity with observability, monitoring, or product analytics tools
* Experience improving developer workflows using AI-assisted engineering tools
