SMY Associates LTD is an Accountancy firm seeking a dedicated Xero Bookkeeper to manage our clients' financial records and ensure their financial transactions are accurately and promptly recorded. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the Xero accounting software and have a keen eye for detail. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Financial Data Entry: Accurately input financial transactions into the Xero software, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card accounts, ensuring all transactions are accounted for and properly categorized.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Management: Process invoices, manage bills, and ensure timely payments. Follow up on outstanding invoices and manage collections.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required.
  • VAT and Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with accountants, financial advisors, and other team members to ensure seamless financial management.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest features and best practices of Xero and attend relevant training sessions/webinars.
  • Ad Hoc Financial Tasks: Address other financial tasks and projects as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Experience with Xero: Must have a deep understanding of the Xero accounting software.
  • Educational Background: Preferably a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Attention to Detail: Must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to spot numerical errors.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve discrepancies and financial issues.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Xero Certification: Certified in Xero or willing to become certified within 2 weeks. 

Familiarity with other accounting or financial software/tools [e.g., "QuickBooks, SAGE, etc."] is beneficial.
