Smart Working is seeking a dedicated Backend Engineer specializing in the Symfony Framework to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate possesses over five years of experience working with PHP, with a strong focus on Symfony for at least three years, and is proficient in writing unit tests using PHPUnit. This role requires a solid understanding of MongoDB and design patterns in object-oriented programming. The Backend Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing to the development and maintenance of scalable backend systems that support innovative applications. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential for effectively working within our agile environment. In this role, you will not be managing a team but will play a critical role in shaping the backend architecture, ensuring code quality through rigorous testing practices, and optimizing database interactions. You will leverage your expertise in PHP and Symfony to develop robust server-side logic, improve application performance, and implement reusable code components. Your hands-on experience with MongoDB will support efficient data storage and retrieval strategies tailored to our project needs. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend components and APIs using Symfony and PHP to support business requirements.
  • Write clear, maintainable, and testable code by applying best practices in unit testing with PHPUnit.
  • Implement and optimize MongoDB database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies for efficient data handling.
  • Apply object-oriented design patterns to build scalable and reusable software components.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, QA engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality software.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to agreed standards.
  • Analyze application performance and propose improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner to maintain system stability.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and practices within the team.
