The Nutrition & SBC Manager will lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of Nutrition and Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) activities under the UNICEF-funded BNP SBC Project in Punjab.

The position will ensure that nutrition messages and SBC interventions are evidence-based, culturally appropriate, community-focused, and contribute to improved nutrition knowledge, practices, and utilization of BNP-related services.


Responsibilities

A. Nutrition & SBC Planning

  • Develop and implement the project SBC and nutrition activity plan.
  • Identify priority nutrition behaviours and behavioural barriers.
  • Develop simple, evidence-based nutrition and SBC messages.
  • Ensure alignment of activities with UNICEF, Government of Punjab, and BNP guidelines.
  • Support integration of nutrition and SBC activities at community and facility levels.

B. Community Engagement & Behaviour Change

  • Plan and supervise community-based SBC activities.
  • Conduct/oversee community sessions on maternal, infant and young child nutrition.
  • Promote key behaviours related to breastfeeding, complementary feeding, dietary diversity, maternal nutrition, and prevention of malnutrition.
  • Engage husbands, fathers, caregivers, community leaders, and other key influencers.
  • Ensure community feedback is collected and incorporated into programme activities.

C. Training & Capacity Building

  • Develop and deliver training for NDF, Nutrition/SBC staff, and other relevant personnel.
  • Conduct refresher training based on identified gaps.
  • Provide technical coaching on nutrition counselling and interpersonal communication.
  • Assess staff performance and competency related to SBC activities.

D. SBC Materials

  • Develop, review, and adapt IEC/BCC materials, counselling tools, posters, videos, key messages, and other communication materials.
  • Ensure materials are technically accurate, culturally appropriate, and easy to understand.
  • Coordinate technical review and approval of materials with UNICEF/concerned stakeholders where required.

E. Monitoring & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and monitor SBC indicators and targets.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess the quality of SBC and nutrition activities.
  • Review counselling and community session quality.
  • Identify implementation gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper documentation of SBC activities and beneficiary reach.
  • Monitor community feedback and satisfaction.

F. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly SBC progress updates.
  • Provide inputs for donor/UNICEF reports.
  • Document success stories, case studies, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Maintain proper records of trainings, community sessions, IEC materials, and monitoring visits.
  • Provide timely information to the Provincial Manager for programme decision-making.

G. Coordination

  • Coordinate with UNICEF Punjab, Government departments, BISP/BNP stakeholders, district health authorities, and other relevant partners.
  • Participate in provincial and district-level coordination meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain effective coordination with Shifa Foundation programme, M&E, communications, and field teams.

H. Key Deliverables

  • SBC/Nutrition implementation plan.
  • Priority behaviour and key message matrix.
  • SBC training and capacity-building plan.
  • Approved/adapted SBC and nutrition materials.
  • Monthly SBC activity and monitoring reports.
  • Field monitoring and corrective action reports.
