Senior Software Engineer, Core Experiences

Speechify is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Experiences Team, a crucial group responsible for developing and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that support Speechify’s product experience across multiple platforms. This role suits someone who enjoys working at the intersection of product and infrastructure, values strategic thinking, and is passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that improve the user experience. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, prioritize features for rapid customer feedback, and balance integration and UX tradeoffs across various product lines. Deliver solutions through the cross-platform SDK, ensuring seamless functionality and a smooth user experience. Optimize existing features to enhance performance, such as faster loading times and smarter parsing, by designing efficient abstractions and refining algorithms. Develop and deploy cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and scheduled jobs using Kotlin.

Required Qualifications
Demonstrate strong systems thinking with the ability to design end-to-end solutions that emphasize simplicity and reliability. Work quickly and decisively, generating ideas and distinguishing what can be shipped immediately from what needs further refinement. Maintain focus and discipline to thrive in a busy, remote, high-growth startup environment, knowing when to collaborate and when to work independently. Exhibit excellent collaboration skills, capable of inspiring and negotiating with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform is highly preferred; while Java experience is acceptable, expertise in Kotlin is essential. Prior experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
