Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a non-governmental organization based in France that promotes international solidarity. Founded in 1991, SIF intends to bring relief and protect the lives of those threatened by natural disasters, armed conflicts, or economic collapse. SIF intervenes in more than 30 countries around the world through emergency relief, recovery, and development initiatives. It carries out operations in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.  Its goal is to help affected communities and bring relief to the people in need throughout the world, regardless of their origin, religion, gender or political association.  

 

Objective 1: Assessment /Training Activities:

  • Conduct technical feasibility assessment for WASH and community infrastructure schemes.
  • Conduct field water quality tests for all water supply schemes (hand pumps, ponds etc.)
  • Train masons/artisans on design, construction techniques and maintenance of WASH infrastructures.

Objective 2: Technical Supervision Activities:

  • Develop BOQs and design for culturally appropriate, environmentally sound, disaster-resilient and sustainable WASH facilities, including water réservoirs, Filtration Plants, hand pumps, solarized water schèmes, community and Govt CPI schemes in target areas.
  • Supervise all construction activities related to water supply and sanitation including water ponds, filtration plants, Plant nursery development,  etc.
  • Ensure all design and construction work comply with approved engineering standards.
  • Ensure the quality of materials, construction work, and unloading materials are recorded at field level.
  • Supervise field activities related to construction, ensuring adherence to design standards, quality, and timelines.
  • Conduct monthly evaluations of hard activities to determine the success of interventions, write routine progress reports and recommend changes in program activities to the Project Manager.
  • Support the logistics department in the procurement of construction materials and ensure safe storage in the community.
  • Ensure that all infrastructure project activities are environmentally sustainable and follow safety guidelines, including disaster risk reduction measures.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks to workers and communities during construction activities.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to community members and project staff to support the maintenance and sustainability of the infrastructure.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, including progress updates, site photos, and any deviations from original plans.
  • Hand over all completed schemes to the beneficiaries and line departments.

Objective 3: Coordination Activities:

  • Maintain close liaison with the field team, Village Development Committees (VDCs), and stakeholders.
  • Report progress, challenges, and technical needs to project management on daily basis.
  • Establish strong connections with all relevant departments to obtain technical guidance from the base WASH Engineer, and WASH Coordinator, and ensure the replication of daily lessons and best practices.
  • Keep close coordination with the MEAL department.

Objective 4: Documentation Activities:

  • Ensure proper documentation related to WASH and community infrastructure construction.
  • Design appropriate CPI schemes and Prepare BOQs for all construction work.
  • Preparation of work plans for all construction works.
  • Prepare and submission of technical feasibility reports.
  • Prepare and submission of final reports of all construction works to management.

Objective 5: Reporting Activities:

  • Report all activities to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Analyze collected data and provide feedback as needed.
  • Prepare field visit reports and other ad hoc reports.
  • Compile and submit bi-weekly or monthly reports on construction activities.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs.
