Operate computer numerical control (CNC) wood machines to cut, shape, and fabricate wood products according to specifications and designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation:

  • Set up and operate CNC wood machines (e.g., routers, saws, drills).
  • Load and unload materials, ensuring proper alignment and securement.
  • Monitor machine performance, adjusting settings as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., cleaning, lubricating).

Programming and Setup:

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and design software (e.g., CAD/CAM).
  • Create and edit CNC programs using software (e.g., G-code).
  • Set up machine parameters (e.g., feed rates, spindle speeds).
  • Conduct trial runs to ensure accuracy and quality.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and defects.
  • Measure and verify dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Identify and report defects or issues to supervisor.

Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Report hazards or near-misses to supervisor.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Prefferably DAE - MECH)
  • 3 years of experience operating CNC wood machines.
  • Familiarity with CNC software and programming languages.
  • Basic math skills and understanding of measurement units.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with woodworking machinery (e.g., table saw, jointer).
  • Knowledge of wood properties and materials.
  • Certification in CNC operation or woodworking.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks etc.).
  • Lean manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand for long periods (up to 12 hours or more).
  • Lift, bend, and maneuver heavy materials.
  • Work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.
