RMI is seeking a dedicated Laboratory professional to join our team and contribute to our commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare services. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in blood collection, blood receiving, and public health communication skills. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can ensure accurate specimen handling and adherence to established safety protocols. Managing a small team of two, the laboratory professional will also play a vital role in coordinating daily operations and facilitating effective communication among team members to enhance service delivery. The Laboratory professional is responsible for maintaining high standards of laboratory operations, including specimen collection and processing with utmost care to maintain sample integrity. Strong public health communication skills are essential to effectively educate and interact with patients, ensuring their safety and confidence. This role demands a minimum of three years of practical experience, along with a solid educational foundation of 12 years schooling, equipping the candidate with the necessary knowledge and competencies to succeed in a clinical laboratory environment.
Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples and other specimens accurately while following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Receive and process blood samples, ensuring correct labeling, storage, and timely delivery to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain strict adherence to patient safety protocols to prevent contamination and errors during specimen handling.
  • Manage and supervise a team of two laboratory staff members, coordinating schedules and daily tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and address any questions or concerns related to specimen collection and laboratory processes.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to support accurate test results.
  • Maintain detailed records of sample collection, processing, and reporting in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Implement public health communication strategies to promote awareness and understanding of laboratory services among patients and the broader community.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely laboratory information that supports diagnosis and treatment decisions.
