Riphah International University is looking for a skilled IT Support Engineer to join its technology team. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive technical support to ensure the effective and smooth operation of the universitys hardware, software, and network environments. The IT Support Engineer diagnoses and resolves technical issues, maintains system security protocols, and supports university staff and students by providing timely assistance with IT-related problems. The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to handle multiple support tasks promptly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Technology and have at least three years of experience in technical troubleshooting, network configuration, and hardware diagnostics.
The IT Support Engineer collaborates closely with various departments and external vendors to maintain a secure and reliable IT infrastructure that supports both academic and administrative operations at Riphah International University. Although this position does not involve managing a team, the engineer takes a proactive approach in identifying potential technological vulnerabilities and educating users to enhance their understanding of the universitys IT systems. The responsibility includes handling first and second-level support, software installations, configuring devices, and maintaining accurate documentation to ensure seamless technology services across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely first-level and second-level technical support to end-users, resolving issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations, printers, network devices, and essential software applications to meet operational needs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware failures, operating system errors, and peripheral device malfunctions effectively.
- Manage user accounts in Active Directory including creation, modification, and deactivation while ensuring proper access control.
- Respond promptly to IT support tickets using a ticketing system to document issues and track resolution progress.
- Maintain detailed IT documentation such as support logs, system configurations, and incident reports for auditing and knowledge sharing.
- Implement and monitor security measures and data protection strategies in compliance with university policies to safeguard IT assets.
- Assist in setting up new workstations and installing required software to support the onboarding of new staff and faculty members.
- Liaise with external vendors for procurement, maintenance, and warranty support of hardware and software solutions.
- Monitor local and wide area network connections and troubleshoot network-related problems using diagnostic tools and Cisco IOS management.
- Conduct regular hardware diagnostics and system health checks to proactively detect and prevent potential system failures.
- Provide basic IT training and guidance to staff members, enhancing their ability to use systems and software efficiently.
- Utilize remote support tools like TeamViewer, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), and LogMeIn to provide support without physical presence.
- Perform routine system maintenance including software updates, security patches, and backup operations to maintain system reliability.
- Execute root cause analysis for recurring or complex issues and implement effective solutions to prevent future incidents.
