About the Opportunity

Renaissance is seeking an ambitious chartered accountant to join our team. This candidate will work directly with our client who is a growing CPA firm in Canada. They will participate in audit and assurance activities, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements. They’ll also play a pivotal role in tax compliance, preparing and reviewing tax returns while staying updated on evolving tax laws. Their work extends to financial analysis, client advisory, and project management, where they analyze financial data, offer strategic recommendations to clients, and manage multiple engagements simultaneously. Additionally, they may take on leadership roles, supervising and mentoring junior staff, while continuously learning about industry trends and contributing to the firm/s decision-making processes.

Core roles of the candidate include:

Audit and Assurance:

  • Participate in audit, review and compilation engagements, ensuring compliance with Canadian auditing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial statements and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
  • Stay updated on Canadian tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate tasks among team members and delegate responsibilities effectively.

Financial Analysis:

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of improvement.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks in financial processes and suggest mitigating strategies.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial information.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of financial reports to clients and management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and reporting standards.

Research and Compliance:

  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations.
  • Conduct research to address complex accounting and tax issues.

Quality Assurance:

  • Perform quality control reviews on financial statements and other deliverables.
  • Ensure that work papers and documentation meet firm and regulatory standards.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and relevant certifications.

Please note that the standard working hours for this role are 11:00 to 20:00 hours PKT. Work outside of these hours may be required from time to time, including accommodating business hours in Canada.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
  • Professional accounting designation preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and experience preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
  • Minimum 5 years’ of audit experience working with an accounting firm.
  • Experience using a major accounting software platform (e.g., CaseWare, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, etc.).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in client service and professional settings.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment with dispersed operations.
  • Ability to balance and manage the demands of multiple clients.
  • Ability to work and manage effectively in a remote environment where independence and resourcefulness are encouraged.
  • Ability to anticipate and/or creatively address challenges with a persistent focus on financial risk management.
  • Ability to explain, advocate and convincingly present facts and ideas and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.
  • Uncompromising professionalism, integrity and ethical standards.

Beneficial but Optional

  • Prior work experience with a Canadian accounting firm.
  • Degree, certificate, or prior work experience in international tax planning.
