With over twelve years of experience preparing complex electrical drawings, this position requires advanced skills in interpreting client inputs, managing multi-disciplinary coordination, and producing documentation that meets rigorous quality standards. The Senior Draughtsman ensures optimized design for space utilization and effective cable routing, handles multiple fast-track projects adhering to strict deadlines, and maintains rigorous revision control throughout the project lifecycle. Although this role does not involve direct team management, the incumbent provides technical guidance to junior draftsmen and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the drafting and engineering teams. Collaboration with civil, MEP, protection, telecom, and site execution teams is essential to ensure integrated project delivery and smooth on-site operations.
Responsibilities

Prepare and submit detailed design drawings including substation layouts, cable routing, tray layouts, single line diagrams, earthing systems, and installation schematics following client specifications and industry standards.
Coordinate closely with electrical design engineers and other departments to ensure drawings are accurate, comply with project specifications, and minimize errors requiring revisions.
Develop builders work drawings indicating electrical and MEP openings and sleeves, and provide essential inputs to the civil design and site teams.
Ensure efficient cable routing and equipment placement to prevent space constraints and facilitate straightforward site installation.
Manage the preparation, tracking, and submission of shop drawings, equipment installation drawings, as-built drawings, and authority submission documents.
Maintain compliance with local regulations such as DEWA, TAQA, and ETIHADWE, as well as international standards including IEC and IEEE.
Conduct regular reviews of technical specifications and project scopes to stay up-to-date with amendments and changes affecting design deliverables.
Collaborate proactively with multidisciplinary teams including civil, MEP, fire protection, HVAC, and telecom to integrate inter-services drawings and requirements.
Maintain strict revision control and document tracking systems to ensure all design modifications are accurately recorded and communicated.
Participate in technical coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate prompt approval and resolution of design queries.
Produce and deliver drawings and documentation in a timely manner according to project schedules, ensuring timely approvals within a maximum of two revision cycles.
Support junior draftsmen by providing guidance on technical and coordination issues and help uphold drafting discipline and quality standards.
Adopt and implement digital documentation workflows to enhance submission efficiency and support continuous improvement in drafting practices.
Handle multiple simultaneous project submissions under high-pressure conditions while maintaining accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
Ensure drawings are verified for accuracy with a target of 99% precision in bill of quantities and less than 5% revision frequency for submitted drawings.
