The BIM Modeller - Electrical at Recruit AI plays a vital role in developing, coordinating, and maintaining highly accurate Building Information Modeling (BIM) models specifically for substation and electrical infrastructure projects. This role requires producing Level of Development (LOD) compliant electrical BIM models covering high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems including substations, transformers, switchgear, and grounding systems. The modeller extracts ISO 19650 standard-compliant drawings and documentation according to project requirements and BIM Execution Plans (BEP). Collaborating closely with the BIM Manager, engineers, and site teams, the role ensures model constructability, interdisciplinary coordination, and compliance with local utility standards and international codes such as IEC, IEEE, and NFPA. The position supports the full project lifecycle from design, coordination, through construction by providing updated models and construction deliverables. This role demands a strong technical foundation in substation electrical systems, expertise in BIM and CAD software applications like Autodesk Revit and Navisworks, and familiarity with local utility standards including DEWA, SEWA, TAQA, TRANSCO, and ADDC/ADWEA. The incumbent drives the adherence to BIM standards and modeling protocols while supporting innovation in BIM workflows such as clash detection, automation, and interoperability. With over 5 years of BIM experience and at least one year of on-site coordination, the modeller contributes to enhancing modeling efficiency and quality assurance within the BIM & CAD Cell of Recruit AI, without managing a team but collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities

  • Develop precise 3D electrical BIM models for substations and related systems in compliance with project LOD and BIM standards.
  • Extract 2D drawings, shop drawings, schedules, and documentation from BIM models aligned with ISO 19650 standards and project BIM Execution Plans.
  • Perform clash detection and coordinate multidisciplinary model alignment to resolve design conflicts and ensure constructability.
  • Regularly update BIM models based on design revisions, Requests for Information (RFIs), and site feedback, maintaining revision control and version management.
  • Adhere to naming conventions, file structuring, and data management protocols using Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms to ensure consistent workflow.
  • Support quantity take-offs and material scheduling through accurate data extraction from BIM models to assist project estimating and procurement.
  • Conduct internal quality assurance and quality control checks to maintain high accuracy, consistency, and completeness of models and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineers, BIM coordinators, designers, and site teams to integrate interdisciplinary inputs and comply with local and international electrical standards and utility requirements.
  • Contribute to the standardization of modeling practices by promoting the use of templates, libraries, and BIM Execution Plans specific to electrical infrastructure and substations.
  • Support innovation by adopting new BIM software tools, enabling automation, improving interoperability, and optimizing clash detection and coordination workflows.
  • Assist in preparing federated models, reports, and other BIM deliverables required for project handover, asset information requirements, and lifecycle data integration.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication regarding BIM model changes, coordination issues, and project progress within the BIM & CAD Cell and with external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about evolving BIM methodologies, software updates, and industry best practices to continuously improve modeling efficiency and output quality.
  • Ensure compliance with local utility standards such as DEWA, SEWA, TAQA, TRANSCO, ADDC/ADWEA and international codes including IEC, IEEE, and NFPA.
  • Participate actively in coordination meetings, providing expert input on model development and implementing assigned changes promptly.
