The Manager Logistics at Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) leads the planning, coordination, and execution of supply chain operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods and services. This role involves overseeing all aspects of logistics including inventory management, transportation, warehouse operations, and distribution. The ideal candidate applies advanced skills in supply chain management, ERP systems, and data analysis to optimize processes and improve operational efficiency. With a strong background supported by an MBA or equivalent and at least four years of experience, the Manager Logistics effectively manages a team of 10 professionals, driving high performance and collaboration to meet organizational goals. This role requires a strategic thinker who can integrate complex logistics processes with technology solutions such as SAP and Oracle ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems, and supply chain optimization software. The Manager Logistics ensures compliance with company policies and industry standards, while continuously looking for opportunities to reduce costs, enhance inventory control, and improve overall supply chain effectiveness. Leadership skills and team management capability are critical, as this role is responsible for guiding and developing a proficient team to support PEIs mission of poverty eradication through efficient resource distribution.
Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of supply chain strategies that align with the organizational objectives of Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI).
  • Manage and oversee the entire logistics operation including inventory control, transportation management, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 10 logistics professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP ERP and Oracle ERP to monitor and enhance supply chain processes and data accuracy.
  • Plan and coordinate transportation routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods and cost-effective operations.
  • Implement and maintain Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to optimize inventory management and warehouse activities.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the logistics network.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to streamline supply chain activities and resolve logistical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices in all logistics functions.
  • Drive initiatives for inventory optimization to reduce carrying costs while maintaining adequate stock levels.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for transportation and warehousing services to maximize value.
  • Monitor performance metrics and prepare regular reports to provide insight into logistics operations and support decision-making.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing supply chain flexibility, agility, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee the implementation of new technologies and systems in logistics to improve operational capabilities.
  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and maintain service continuity.
  • Provide leadership and guidance during audits and inspections related to logistics and supply chain compliance.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
