The Field Operations Manager at Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) plays a critical leadership role overseeing field operations related to large-scale surveys and logistics. The manager directs a diverse team of 35 personnel, ensuring efficient execution of field activities that align with the strategic goals of PEI. This role demands extensive experience in managing complex field operations within the context of poverty eradication programs, emphasizing quality, safety, and timely delivery. The Field Operations Manager ensures that all activities comply with established protocols and safety standards while optimizing resources and vendor partnerships. They develop operational plans, coordinate logistics, and implement policies that promote effective fieldwork execution. Collaboration with various stakeholders and efficient team leadership are essential to successfully managing the field operations workflow. The ideal candidate holds a Masters degree and brings at least 10 years of relevant experience managing large-scale survey projects and logistical challenges in similar operational settings.
Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of 35 field staff, providing guidance, motivation, and performance evaluations to ensure high productivity and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive operational plans for large-scale survey execution and related field activities, aligning with the strategic objectives of PEI.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to health and safety policies during all field operations, minimizing risks and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Manage resource allocation including personnel, equipment, and materials to optimize efficiency and meet project timelines within budget constraints.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment, materials, and logistical support required for field operations.
  • Monitor operational progress and deliver regular reports to senior management outlining performance, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards related to field survey operations and logistics management.
  • Identify potential operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to address challenges promptly and effectively.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across multiple teams and departments to ensure seamless execution of field activities.
  • Organize training sessions and workshops to enhance team skills related to operational best practices, safety compliance, and survey methodologies.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards for data collection and field processes.
  • Conduct periodic field visits to assess project status, team performance, and health and safety adherence.
  • Contribute to budget planning and resource forecasting for sustained field operations.
  • Review and optimize logistical processes to adapt to changing operational needs and external conditions.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
