PetroSeal is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage and oversee the companys financial documentation and processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, account reconciliation, budgeting, and forecasting. This role requires proficiency in using accounting software and managing various accounting tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, tax preparation and filing, and general ledger maintenance. The Accountant will also contribute to financial analysis to support business decisions and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards. The position requires a minimum of five years of experience in accounting or a related field.
As part of the role, you will manage a small team of two accounting professionals, providing guidance and oversight to ensure accuracy and efficiency in handling financial data and maintaining robust internal controls. Your leadership will support the continuous improvement of accounting procedures and the optimization of financial operations, contributing directly to PetroSeals overall business success.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform account reconciliation to verify and balance data between general ledger accounts and supporting documents.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting activities to help plan PetroSeals financial strategy and track performance against financial goals.
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable operations ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Conduct tax preparation and filing in compliance with local tax regulations and deadlines while maximizing allowable deductions.
- Maintain the general ledger by properly recording all business transactions and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between bank statements and company accounting records.
- Utilize accounting software such as Fast Accounts and QuickBooks efficiently to maintain accurate financial data and generate reports.
- Manage invoice processing to ensure timely approvals and payments, reducing outstanding receivables and optimizing cash flow.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization and operational improvements.
- Supervise and support a team of two accounting professionals, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing training to enhance team capabilities.
- Develop and implement internal accounting policies and procedures to strengthen financial controls and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with auditors during financial audits by preparing necessary documents and providing clarifications as needed.
- Maintain updated knowledge of relevant accounting laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to management, supporting informed decision-making and strategic planning.
