Purpose of Post

The Programme Support Officer (Quality Assurance) plays a vital role in supporting the MEAL team by ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of programme data. You will be responsible for a range of tasks related to data collection, management, analysis, and reporting, contributing to the effective monitoring and evaluation of Penny Appeal's programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Data Quality Assurance:

o   Conduct data quality checks on programme monitoring data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

o   Develop and implement data cleaning procedures to address data inconsistencies and errors.

o   Maintain data dictionaries and coding schemes to ensure standardized data collection across programmes.

o   Support the development and implementation of data quality control measures within programme teams.

Data Management and Reporting:

o   Enter and manage programme data in designated databases and systems (e.g., Salesforce).

o   Generate reports on programme performance based on established reporting templates and indicators.

o   Extract and prepare data for further analysis by the MEAL team.

o   Assist with the development and maintenance of data management systems and procedures.

Support for Monitoring and Evaluation:

o   Assist the MEAL team with data collection activities for programme evaluations (e.g., data entry from surveys).

o   Prepare data visualization tools (e.g., charts, graphs) to effectively communicate programme findings.

o   Contribute to the development of basic programme monitoring reports.

Collaboration and Communication:

o   Maintain strong relationships with programme teams and other departments to facilitate smooth data collection and reporting processes.

o   Provide technical assistance and guidance to programme staff on data management procedures.

o   Communicate data-related issues and challenges to the MEAL Manager on time.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in data management or a related field (R)
  • Experience working in the international development or humanitarian sector (R)
  • Experience working in an Islamic charity setting (D)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of data quality principles and best practices (R)
  • Proficiency in data entry and management software (e.g., MS Excel, Salesforce) (R)
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques (descriptive statistics) (R)
