About the role:

A WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring access to clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene facilities, particularly in developing regions and humanitarian contexts.

About the Project:

The project aims to provide integrated services in health, nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and livelihood to the flood-affected communities of Umerkot and Khairpur Sindh-Pakistan.

The project idea is designed within the framework of localization to restore the mentioned services and strengthen local capacities, taking a holistic approach and considering the protracted nature of the crisis situation. The staff will be based in their respective districts to implement the project activities.

Your impactful goals will include:

  •  Project Planning: WASH Engineer will be responsible for designing and planning project related to water supply, sanitation, and hygiene. This includes conducting needs assessments, feasibility studies, and developing project proposals.
  •  Infrastructure Design: He will design and oversee the construction of water supply systems, including wells, boreholes, pipelines, water treatment plants, and storage facilities. He will also design sanitation facilities, such as latrines, sewage systems, and solid waste management systems.
  •  Quality Control: The WASH Engineer will ensure that all infrastructure projects adhere to relevant standards and regulations to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable water and sanitation services.
  •  Budget Management: He will manage the project budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to meet project goals.
  •  Construction Supervision: WASH Engineers supervise construction activities, including hiring and managing labor, contractors, and other resources. He will ensure that construction projects are completed on time and within budget.
  •  Environmental Impact Assessment: He will assess the environmental impact of WASH projects and implement measures to mitigate any negative effects on the environment.
  •  Water Quality Monitoring: Regularly test and monitor the quality of water sources, treatment processes, and distribution systems to ensure safe and clean drinking water.
  •  Community Engagement: Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to identify their specific needs, raise awareness about hygiene practices, and ensure the sustainability of WASH projects.
  •  Report and Documentation: Maintain detailed records and prepare reports on project progress, budget utilization, and outcomes. These reports are often shared with donors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  •  Innovation and Research: Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in the field of WASH engineering and seek innovative solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  •  Compliance and Regulation: Ensure that all WASH projects comply with relevant national and international regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  •  Health and Safety: Implement and enforce safety protocols for both workers and beneficiaries to prevent accidents and the spread of waterborne diseases.
  •  Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct regular evaluations of projects to assess their impact and effectiveness, and make adjustments as necessary.

What we are looking for:

Education & Knowledge:

  •  Master's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  •  Technical Knowledge of Water Supply systems and Sanitation Systems.

Work Experience:

  •  Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the development sector.
