Painter Marketing Pros is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our internal technology team focused on developing innovative AI tooling for our agency and future products. This role requires an experienced engineer with at least five years of proven expertise in building scalable backend APIs and services. The successful candidate will lead a team of two engineers, driving architectural decisions and ensuring robust, efficient backend solutions that meet the evolving needs of the company.
In this position, the Senior Backend Engineer designs, develops, and maintains backend systems with an emphasis on performance optimization, security best practices, and seamless integration via RESTful APIs. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key to transforming complex requirements into reliable, scalable services, leveraging cloud computing environments and continuous integration/delivery pipelines. Strong leadership skills and mentoring capabilities are essential as the role involves managing and growing a small but dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs and microservices that support AI tooling and future company products.
- Lead and mentor a team of two backend engineers to ensure high-quality code and effective collaboration.
- Implement and enforce security best practices in backend services, adhering to OWASP Top Ten guidelines and web application security standards.
- Develop RESTful APIs using Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, and FastAPI, ensuring comprehensive documentation utilizing Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
- Optimize backend performance through efficient database design, query optimization, and thoughtful service architecture.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, facilitating automated testing, integration, and deployment processes.
- Manage cloud computing resources and infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficient resource utilization.
- Conduct code reviews regularly to maintain code quality, consistency, and adherence to project requirements.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve backend issues with a strong problem-solving approach to maintain service availability and stability.
- Stay current with emerging backend technologies and industry trends to continually improve system architecture and development practices.
