OneContact Tech is seeking an intermediate Remote Software Development Engineer to join our North American client's remote-first engineering team. This role focuses on building and maintaining software that supports telecom operations at scale. The successful candidate writes high-quality code, works collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and actively contributes to the improvement of software products in a fast-paced environment. With around four years of software engineering experience, this position emphasizes ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous learning in a highly scalable context.
The engineer works independently on well-defined tasks while engaging with team members to design efficient solutions. The role requires a strong foundation in backend programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Go, along with solid knowledge of software design principles. Although not managing a team, the engineer plays a key role in code reviews, technical documentation, and staying current with emerging technologies to ensure the team delivers reliable and maintainable software.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust software applications and systems, contributing independently to new features and improvements across the product.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into clean, well-structured, and scalable solutions.
- Write efficient, maintainable, and high-quality code following best coding practices, and take ownership of the quality and reliability of delivered software.
- Actively participate in code reviews by providing and receiving constructive feedback to elevate the overall codebase quality.
- Create, update, and maintain clear technical documentation to ensure effective communication and alignment within the team.
- Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies, tools, and trends and integrate relevant ideas to improve development processes and product capabilities.
- Work with confidence on well-scoped problems by leveraging prior experience, while remaining open to collaboration and continuous learning.
- Contribute meaningfully to the teams goals and product success by being proactive and invested in both the technical and interpersonal aspects of the work environment.
