Introduction:

 As we see more and more people negatively affected by climate change and environmental degradation, we are scaling up its efforts to increase community resilience by integrating Climate and Environmental Stewardship (CES) into our Global Programme Framework for 2025-2029. The aim of CES is to support local communities to: a) prepare and respond to impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and natural and man-made disasters; b) sustainably manage natural resources; and c) mobilize citizens and duty-bearers to act for climate and environmental justice.

 We are therefore looking for a proactive and experienced person to drive the implementation of CES in humanitarian, long-term development, and/or advocacy interventions in our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the program quality and development of CES in the department.  

 The Program Coordinate positions coordinate, advise, or specialize in organizational activities. Positions encompassing managerial functions including planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the activities, with a broad range of managerial authorities and responsibilities.

Main tasks and key responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for overseeing the coordination and management of CES in our projects and programs.
  • Planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on CES, according to the organization's project cycle.
  • Provide technical training and competence building on CES for partners and rights-holders.
  • Developing new concept notes on CES, leading and/or contributing to relevant funding applications related to CES.
  • Networking, collaborating, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders, including research institutions, environmental organizations, NGOs, technical working groups, and relevant authorities and government departments.
  • Travel to field locations for facilitation, monitoring, training, and follow-up of CES projects and programs.
  • Provide quality assurance of partner implementation, results, and reports related to CES.
  • Liaise with CES advisors at the Head Office and global Community of Practice on CES.
  • Working with program teams to incorporate resilience building across the program.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 16-year education in  MSc/MS within an environmental field, such as natural resource management, environmental protection and management, environmental engineering, agroecology, disaster risk management, life sciences, or equivalent (relevant work experience may replace educational requirement).
  • Min 8 years of relevant experience working in the environment, development, and/or humanitarian sector on a position of similar scope of work.
  • Experience working with project cycle management and project coordination.
  • Technical qualifications related to CES, such as GIS, nature-based solutions, environmental management or engineering,  is an advantage.
  • Experience working with community-based programming is an advantage.
  • Skilled in computer use, MS Office suite, and other digital systems for project management.
  • Experience working with NEAT+ or other environmental assessment tools is an advantage.
  • Excellent/proficient in oral and written English and Urdu language. Fluency in English is an advantage.
