The WASH Specialist at National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) leads and manages the implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects aimed at improving community infrastructure and public health. This role requires a highly skilled professional with a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline and at least ten years of relevant experience. The specialist coordinates and supervises engineering teams across multiple project districts to ensure that all WASH initiatives comply with technical standards, donor requirements, and local community needs. Through strategic planning, technical leadership, and proactive management, the WASH Specialist drives the effective and efficient delivery of project activities.
The position involves managing a team of 15 persons, encompassing supervision, guidance, and support to team members responsible for surveys, design, and execution of WASH projects. The specialist supports coordination efforts with donors and various stakeholders, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and timely submission of all program-related reports. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of WASH infrastructure, community engagement, hygiene promotion, and project management principles to enhance sustainability and impact.
Responsibilities
Established in 1991, NRSP is the largest Rural Support Programme in the country in terms of outreach, staff and development activities. It is a not for profit organization registered under Section 42 of Companies Ordinance 1984. NRSP's mandate is to alleviate poverty by harnessing people's potential and undertake development activities in Pakistan. It has a presence in 46 Districts in all the four Provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir through Regional Offices and Field Offices. NRSP is currently working with more than half a million poor households organized into a network of more than 57,179 Community Organizations. With sustained incremental growth, it is emerging as Pakistan's leading engine for poverty reduction and rural development.
