The Assistant Business Development Officer at National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) plays a vital role in supporting the organization's credit programs aimed at rural development. The officer is responsible for conducting financial and technical appraisals at the household level, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring transparency through regular and surprise visits to various branches and clients. With a focus on data analysis and customer relationship management, this position supports the setting of targets and improving credit program outcomes. The role requires a proactive individual with at least one year of relevant experience in business development or credit monitoring within rural or community-based settings. The Assistant Business Development Officer does not manage a team but collaborates closely with Area Recovery Officers, Regional Officers, and other field staff to ensure smooth operations and timely loan recoveries. The position demands attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities, including record keeping, report generation, and client engagement, all directed towards promoting the success of the NRSPs rural credit initiatives.
Responsibilities

  • Introduce and promote credit programs to clients and village branches to enhance participation and loan utilization.
  • Monitor the use of credit funds after disbursement and provide detailed feedback to Regional Program Officers and Area Managers.
  • Maintain accurate records of installment due dates, loan recoveries, and track problematic borrowers within the assigned area.
  • Support Area Recovery Officers and Regional Officers in recovering dues from difficult clients through timely follow-ups and strategic interventions.
  • Conduct Cooperative Organization meetings periodically on a random basis to ensure active participation and address any arising issues.
  • Visit each village branch regularly as per the agreed schedule to supervise operations and ensure compliance with program procedures.
  • Cross-check social appraisals conducted by Area Recovery Officers or Regional Officers at the household level to verify their accuracy.
  • Perform financial and technical appraisals at the household level to assess loan viability and client eligibility for credit services.
  • Prepare and provide necessary reports to field workers to assist with recovery follow-up efforts and facilitate smooth loan collection processes.
  • Review daily dues and overdue accounts to plan and coordinate recovery strategies, providing reminders to field workers as needed.
  • Evaluate loans rejected by Area Recovery Officers or Regional Officers by reviewing applications and documentation for potential reconsideration.
  • Perform surprise visits to village branches, cooperative organizations, and clients to promote transparency and prevent irregularities.
  • Check daily cash balances at village branches to ensure proper cash management and compliance with financial policies.
  • Ensure the daily deposit of loan recoveries at banks from all supervised village branches to maintain proper financial records.
  • Keep comprehensive records of all credit cooperative organizations operating within the assigned area to support monitoring and reporting.
  • Verify daily entries in the Management Information System (MIS) for accuracy and consistency to support data integrity.
  • Assist Area Recovery Officers and Regional Officers in setting monthly and weekly targets to align recovery efforts with organizational goals.
  • Meet with clients regularly to verify loan utilization and provide support where necessary to maximize program impact.
  • Carry out any additional assignments or projects assigned by the Regional Program Officer or Area Manager relevant to credit operations.
