Responsibilities 

  • Active case finding within the target community
  • Use universal precautions while dealing with clients and/or PLHIV (supportive/nursing care/treatment) and conducting community-based testing.
  • Providing basic nursing and palliative care to the clients.
  • Ensure & provide need-based care and support services. 
  • Facilitate referrals to CBO sites, ART Centre, external services and entities. 
  • Overall physical assessment of clients, target population, community and PLHIV, taking the vitals (Blood pressure, weight, height). In case of any change in client or patient's condition/complaints, inform the project manager. 
  • Ensure proper storage & report on the status of STI medicines, testing kits and other consumables.  
  • Coordinate with outreach staff in following work plans for outreach and follow-up activities. 
  • Ensure timely management, completion, accuracy and documentation of VCT/HTC register and ensure that the date is entered in the required formats (for monitoring and review purposes). 
  • Attend staff meetings when required 

Required Knowledge

  • HIV/AIDS education and awareness
  • Knowledge of universal precautions while dealing with the clients and/or PLHIV (care, support or testing). 
  • Basic nursing skills 
  • knowledge of types of counseling while dealing with positive clients
  • Should have command on types of counseling to be provided during field visits to hotspots, DIC, Community Centre and gatherings. 
  • Strong knowledge of types of counseling while dealing with positive and other clients:
  • HIV prevention/transmission/risk reduction counseling 
  • Pre and Post-test counseling 
  • Treatment adherence 
  • Infant feeding and child care 
  • Nutritional counseling 
  • Psychological support counseling
