Senior Accountant

Magna Foodservice is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with at least 3 years of experience and deep expertise in UK accounting standards, taxation, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is proficient in managing complex accounting processes, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations. This position demands strong analytical capabilities, mastery of Excel functions, and practical exposure to ERP systems, preferably NetSuite. The role does not include team management responsibilities but calls for effective coordination with UK-based management to support various accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, supporting audits, and managing VAT returns. This individual will contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities, providing valuable insights to optimize financial performance. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle deadlines with precision and work independently while effectively communicating results and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK accounting principles.
Conduct thorough account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial data.
Manage budgeting and forecasting activities to assist in financial planning and analysis.
Ensure compliance with UK VAT regulations, prepare VAT returns, and support audit processes by compiling necessary documentation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries and perform double-entry bookkeeping.
Utilize advanced Excel functions, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial formulas, to analyze and report financial data efficiently.
Work with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, to maintain accounting records and streamline financial workflows.
Coordinate with UK-based management to clarify accounting issues, resolve discrepancies, and deliver financial reports in a timely manner.
Monitor financial transactions for accuracy and adherence to company policies and statutory requirements.
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, explanations, and necessary documentation.
Continuously improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Maintain strong attention to detail in all financial documentation and ensure strict adherence to deadlines.
Stay abreast of changes in UK accounting standards, tax laws, and financial reporting requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
