 Key Accountabilities:

  • To draw, implement and maintain media relation guideline, policy and procedure within IRP and the guidelines, policy and procedures to different departments and offices.
  • To develop media plan for SHRRP and IRP in conjunction with the Heads of Departments and offices.
  • To promote the image of Islamic Relief to media groups via “awareness” campaigns.
  • To initiate, develop, monitor and maintain local, national and international media and public contact for disseminating information and to provide a consistent and immediate response to media requests and international events. To research and write news/press releases.  
  • To coordinate ceremonies, press conference and plan, host special media and public events or specials projects.
  • To serve as organization spokesperson in crisis situations and to coordinate with professional contacts to act as spokes people on related issues.
  • To represent officials at community meetings, media interviews, the organization meetings at local and national functions.
  • To interpret the organization programs for the Media and the public including technical areas peculiar to that organization.
  • To oversee the organization use of advertising and public relations.
  • To oversee the promotion and distribution of public awareness campaign materials and information.  
  • To handle all task of communication including internal and external to build bridge with organizations, partners, donors and all stake holders.
  • To plan and direct advertising, public relations and promotional campaigns and strategies.
  • To advise company officials on proper public relation interviews techniques before media contacts.
  • To research material for writing speeches and position papers on selected topics for the organization officials.
  • To arrange interviews for and regularly briefs the organization officials on sensitive and or controversial issues, to recommend public relation course of action in crisis and in normal routine public relations situation.
  • To identify potential public relations problems and to advise the organization officials of appropriate preventative actions.
  • To visit and communicate with fundraising and filed offices to improve and update production.
  • Record keeping of all the events organized, press releases etc.
  • To conduct field visits to collect high quality material as per requirements of Communications division.

Operational:

  • Preparation of work plans and social mobilization reports
  • Maintenance of hard record that includes field visits reports, CO meeting minutes, beneficiary data, assessment record, distribution record & other documentation.
  • Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard

Organizational:

  • Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.
  • In depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.
  • Abide by the IR zero tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization / empowerment of communities on coping mechanism so that they can raise voice as & when feel inappropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of IR strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability.
  • Assist in identification and documentation of organizational successes for show casing its work

Person Specification:

  • It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide vision, mission as well as commitment to its SEAH (sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. We have zero yolerance policy towards SEAH and doesn’t support any action that promote or encourage SEAH

Qualification:

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Mass communication/Journalism or Media studies

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ with Master or 5 years with Bachelor degree of similar role in NGO setup

Computer Skills:

  • MS Office, Outlook, ERP systems familiarity, Digital editing software

Language:

  • Urdu, English and local languages

Key Personal Qualities:

  • Strong emotional intelligence and resilience, and able to maintain self-control in difficult situations.
  • Able to work under extreme conditions in field areas.
  • Good communication skills in local as well as English/Urdu languages which delivers information with clarity in a wide range of situations.
  • Has a positive nature and able to overcome issues that create hindrance in achievement of entrusted goals / objectives.
