Technical

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect, and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff.

The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for:

  •             Implement project activities related to Hygiene promotion.
  •             Promotion and education within targeted communities through contact with community representatives.
  •             Detail assessment regarding knowledge and practices of the area of intervention and preparation of survey report before and after the hygiene sessions.
  •             To conduct Pre and Post KAP surveys which/whenever asked by the immediate supervisor
  •             Design hygiene sessions with awareness about use of safe water for drinking and provide easy methods for making water safe for drinking.
  •             Arrangements and deliverance of hygiene promotion sessions to the targeted community. Conducting the targeted hygiene promotion sessions with complete record keeping and pictorial proofs.
  •             To ensure the participation of the target community in better health/cleanliness campaigns
  •             Active participation in the Campaigns e.g. Global Hand Washing Day. Global Breastfeeding Week, Global Toilet Day, etc.
  •             Adapt and assist in developing information, education, and communication (IEC) materials for Hygiene and DRR-related activities.
  •             Coordinate and conduct training for hygiene and DRR-related activities in line with the agreed curriculum.
  •             Conduct training of the communities in hygiene promotion and the implementation of different techniques & activities in selected communities as per project objectives.

Operational

  • Preparation of weekly/monthly work plans against PMT (performance-measured time frame) by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in the stipulated time period.
  • Maintenance of hard records that include field visit reports, CO meeting minutes, beneficiary data, assessment records, distribution records & other documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate beneficiary's data collection & screening prior to making any transaction
  • Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard
  • Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information.
  • Ensure availability of up-to-date info in MIS on a regular basis with consultation of MIS / M&E
  • Close coordination with line manager for effective implementation of project activities

Organizational

  • Ensure compliance with IR's policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.
  • In-depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.
  • Abide by the IR zero-tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization/empowerment of communities on coping mechanisms so that they can raise their voices as & when feel inappropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of IR strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability.
  • Assist in the identification & documentation of organizational successes for showcasing IR work
  • Facilitate communities in the adaptation of environment-friendly & cost-effective approaches to meet their current as well as future needs with specific attention to climate change.
  • Focused efforts to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. Persons with disability and old age, minorities, Women & Children, etc in consultation & implementation of project activities at the ground.
  • Strengthen mechanism to Influence the decision makers through communities to pay attention to DRR planning, give voice to suffering and the excluded, and highlight the protection needs of people.
  • Participation and facilitation in the implementation of IR seasonal programs & emergency response

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide vision, mission, and core values.

Qualification:

-           Bachelor / Master Degree in Social Sciences

Experience:

-           Minimum experience of a similar role in NGO setup:

-           1 year with a Master's degree and/or 2 years with a Bachelor's degree

Computer Skills:

MS Office, Outlook, and ERP systems familiarity

Language:

  • Sindhi, Urdu, and English
  • Key Personal Qualities:

  • Good communication skills in local as well as English / Urdu language which delivers information with clarity in a wide range of situations.
