Key Accountabilities:

Technical:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to the country program in identifying and addressing Climate Change-related risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare and adapt inputs to policy briefs/position papers that address links between climate change and other development concerns.
  • Lead on relevant technical assessments and promote high-quality Climate-smart and climate-sensitive technical approaches.

Operational:

  • Collaborate with Communication and Advocacy functions to ensure the development of effective communication materials and strategies
  • Develop project proposals and budgets, and lead grants management and reporting
  • Support field teams in program implementation with a focus on Climate Change

Organizational:

  • Promote knowledge management and exchange of knowledge, information, and experience.
  • Interact with Government and other partners, NGOs, UN, and bilateral agencies in the different stages of program/project implementation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on appropriate technical, financial, and institutional capacity-building measures.

Advocacy:

  • Evolve an advocacy agenda in relation to Climate Change and existing policies and gaps
  • Implement advocacy agenda through suitable forums, initiatives, and campaigns
  • Strategically link climate advocacy initiatives with DRR, Food Security, WASH, Health, and Livelihoods policies and issues
  • Build alliances and coalitions at district, provincial, and national levels with like-minded organizations

Social cohesion: 

  • Build the capacity of local social cohesion mechanisms in conflict analysis and sensitivity, while mainstreaming these approaches across projects and synergizing with other IRP programmes.
  • Lead the design of social cohesion initiatives and technically support area/field team in implementation of social cohesion related activities.
  • Develop annual work plans, manage partnerships with key stakeholders, and provide technical support to implementation team to ensure compliance with work plans, budgets, and expected outcomes.
  • Manage and facilitate conflict assessments, research, and innovation in social cohesion, while supporting knowledge management, communication, and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Identify and secure funding for social cohesion projects by developing strategic partnerships with donors and partners, creating proposals, and mobilizing resources.
